Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Indian River County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message when needed to answer it. We keep that correspondence within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems may automatically receive basic technical information when someone opens a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services may use them to understand traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and common exit points. A browser can reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining performance and site availability
- Routing a search to the applicable outside provider
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Our pages explain official routes through the Indian River County Sheriff's Records Unit, the Circuit and County Courts, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Florida Sexual Offender/Predator Registry. We do not turn visitor data into a consumer report or outside criminal-record file and are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools, and we do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Sheriff's Office, court portals, Florida agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to observe activity across websites for interest-based advertising. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold by us. It may be disclosed to:
- Advertising networks serving ads on these pages
- Analytics providers measuring site use and performance
- Search partners processing a visitor's query
- Government or law-enforcement authorities responding to a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, customary safeguards are used for information in our control. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted information so that we can delete it.
Your Data Rights
Available privacy rights depend on residence and the law governing the circumstances. Florida Statutes §119.07 governs access to nonexempt records held by Florida agencies, while §943.053 governs FDLE criminal-history dissemination and fees. Those official-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to law that applies to us, a person may:
- Opt out of certain processing
- Request deletion of personal data
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Ask for access to personal information we hold
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
